NCE Future of Roads
Welcome to New Civil Engineer’s Future of Roads event which is the second of our 2021 Future of Transport series of conferences that bring together the four established events from the physical world to a virtual format. Our Future of Bridges event was held on 15 June and our roads focus will be followed by Future of Rail on 15 July and Future of Airports on 16 November.
The theme running through all of this year’s Future of Transport events is the challenge facing the sector in delivering on the government’s 2050 carbon net zero commitments, while still maintaining existing infrastructure and investing new sections of the network. There are certainly some testing times ahead and this event aims to give you insight into the latest best practice, innovations and long term challenges within the roads sector, as well as meeting people and businesses to work with you on meeting these future challenges.
With a keynote speech from transport minister Baroness Vere and an interview with Highways England CEO Nick Harris, the event will also give you the chance to ask searching questions of those setting policies for the sector.
The virtual platform we have selected for these events means that the networking opportunities available at a physical event are replicated in the virtual environment but with a few benefits. Please take the time to set up your profile on the Swapcard platform in order to get the best experience of these events beyond the conference programmes.
The platform uses artificial intelligence and the details you enter to match you with others attending the event that you might be interested to meet but you are also able to interact with our sponsors and arrange private one-to-one meetings.
I hope you enjoy this event and, if you’ve not already booked a place, there is still time to sign up for our other Future of Transport events to watch live for Future of Rail and Future of Airports or on demand for the Future of Bridges content.
