Entry Title
ProTrack Link Lighting
Long Description of Entry
Prolectric are leaders in solar battery powered lighting and temporary power. It is the company's vision to educate, help and enable businesses to switch to more sustainable lighting and power as quickly as possible. We do this by leading in innovation, to provide cost effective, sustainable lighting and power solutions in our markets. The ProTrack link lighting technology was developed in early 2019 driven by a customer need to reduce noise and emissions in the tunnel environment where traditional solutions used noisy, polluting diesel generators. The ProTrack system is made up of high end, high lumens per watt LED lighting combined with lithium batteries and DC to AC inverters which convert 24VDC battery power to the required 110VAC lighting strings. When in operation the technology operates with no noise and no emissions. Each set of link lights is made up of a battery and inverter box designed to be less than 50kg which supports up to 100m of link lights typically 9 lights per string. Each set has been designed to provide more than 30 hours of continuous use before battery recharge is necessary. Recharging is done on site with our fast charger technology to provide a full recharge in less than 3 hours. Recharging and battery swap outs are carried out by Prolectric’s own COSS and PTS trained staff. Traditional link lighting solutions run off diesel generators which require regular diesel top up to run the diesel engine, which when operational produce noise and particulate and CO2 emissions causing a hazard to both the workforce and the environment. The additional benefit of the ProTrack provides for a system that does not require regular diesel top up resulting in removing the risk of on-site spillages as well as reduced manpower to operate the system. Tier one contractors such as Colas Rail, South Rail Systems Alliance, Balfour Beatty, Central Rail System Alliance, and Alun Griffiths are adopting the technology across many of their sites, proving the high levels of uptake and realising the benefit to their respective workforces, local residents and the environment alike. To date there is 7km of track side link and tunnel lighting being used across the UK all within the last 12 months, which demonstrates the interest and broadening application of this noise and emission free solution. A good case study for the application of the technology is at the Kilsby Tunnel project near Coventry carried out by the Central Rail Systems Alliance. This involved the supply, installation and operation of 1.7km of temporary tunnel lighting between the 4th and 15th May 2020.

About this category

About
This category rewards initiatives that are boosting productivity, safety or quality in the tunnel fit-out process through new products, equipment or methods, and initiatives which are smart ways of maintaining or improving assets via routine maintenance. The innovative product, equipment or methodology must have been used on a specific project and be able to demonstrate a benefit to the overall project outcome, as well as delivering greater client satisfaction. This category recognises the inherent value of existing underground infrastructure and work delivered to ensure operational efficiency and maximise the life span of such assets.
